Elected Office and Other City Managed Departments
The departments of the City Attorney's Office, the City Clerk, and the City Treasurer are led by elected officials. Collaborating closely with the elected officials and supported by two Deputy City Administrators, the City Manager's Office oversees and coordinates other departments' operations to ensure effective management and delivery of services to the community. These departments include: City Management which encompasses the Office of Communications, Community Development, Finance, information Systems, and Human Resources.
BOARDS, COMMISSIONS & COMMITTEES
Citizen led, volunteer boards and commissions in Huntington Beach represent a significant asset for the city. They are composed of dedicated residents who offer their time and expertise to advise policy makers and bolster City programs and initiatives. Primarily serving as advisory bodies to the Mayor and/or City Council, these volunteers facilitate crucial communication between community members and elected officials, fostering collaboration, valuable insight, and mutual understanding. These volunteers play a pivotal role in influencing and shaping public policy and providing diverse advisory perspectives, ultimately enriching the City of Huntington Beach by leveraging a broad spectrum of community representation and knowledge.

CITY ATTORNEY OFFICE
The overarching goal of the City Attorney Office is to ensure that the city receives superior legal representation in all aspects of its operations and legal proceedings. The office is tasked with providing comprehensive legal representation and counsel to the City Council, administrative bodies, and all city officials. This involves offering legal advice on various matters related to city operations, drafting and reviewing legal documents such as ordinances and contracts, and attending meetings to provide legal guidance. Furthermore, the City Attorney is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases stemming from violations of the City Charter or Municipal Code, as well as certain state misdemeanors within the city's jurisdiction. There are currently no vacancies!
