Adopt-A-Park Pilot Initiative

As part of the Adopt-A-Project program, the initial Adopt-A-Park Pilot Initiative will launch as a pilot program featuring seven neighborhood parks, including the following:

  • Bauer Park

  • Discovery Well Park

  • Lake Park (pending adoption by Boy Scout Troop 1)

  • Lake View Park

  • Lamb Park

  • Peter Green Park

  • Worthy Park

*Other parks—and specific zones within larger parks—may be adopted by individuals or groups at any time.

If you are interested in one of our pilot parks, please contact the Grow HB Coordinator, Charlene Gomez, at cgomez@surfcity-hb.org for details or how to proceed.

How Adopt-A-Park works under the Adopt-A-Project program:

Ideally, each adopted park, or zone within a park, will be cared for by a group with a lead site coordinator, but individuals are welcome as well. The coordinator will have the following jobs:

  • Organize park cleanups

  • Schedule light maintenance days

  • Monitor the park for maintenance or graffiti issues and report them to the City

The program encourages community pride, creates cleaner and safer spaces, and fosters lasting partnerships between residents and the City.
