Who administers Volunteer Programs in Parks and along Streetscapes?
The City of Huntington Beach’s Community & Library Services Department, in coordination with the Public Works Department. Some projects may also require approval from the Grow HB Project Review Committee, the Community & Library Services Commission, or City Council
How do I apply for a project?
Contact City staff at cgomez@surfcity-hb.org or visit the Volunteer page on the City’s website for details and contact information on available projects
How long is an adoption period?
Adoption projects are flexible and open-ended. The City may end the agreement at any time, and volunteers may also cancel with no penalty
What if my preferred project is already adopted?
Sites are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. You may join a waitlist or assist current adopters, as needed
Is there a cost to volunteer?
Costs depend on project size and scope. Volunteers usually supply materials. Litter pickers and trash bags may be provided by City, if available. Some landscaping materials may require project pre-approval by City
Who checks work quality?
City staff inspects all work to ensure compliance with municipal standards
