WELCOME TO BEACH, NATURE, PARKS & ENVIRONMENT
Department of Public Works
In collaboration with volunteers, the Public Works Department is responsible for a wide range of community enhancement and preservation tasks, including the maintenance of parks, beaches, coastlines, waterways, landscapes, sidewalks, streets, and sewers.
Beach Maintenance ensures the cleanliness and upkeep of 3.5 miles of beachfront, involving various tasks such as raking sand, sweeping bike paths and parking lots, and cleaning over 100 fire rings and restroom stalls.
The trash and recycling office plays a crucial role in waste management by developing and enforcing regulations, overseeing waste collection and disposal, manage recycling and waste reduction initiatives, and educating the public on waste management issues to promote environmental sustainability and community well-being.
Additionally, the Adopt-A-Park program through the Facilities & Development Division oversees the city's extensive park inventory, ensuring the provision of quality recreational spaces for residents.
Environmental Services offers extensive support and resources to the community concerning the environment.
Beach cleanups play a vital role in maintaining the beauty of beaches, preventing litter from entering the ocean and harming wildlife. In supporting diverse wildlife, Beach cleanups also serve as a means to raise awareness about the global issue of marine pollution.
