The Police and Homeless Services volunteer program engages volunteers across multiple departments; the Huntington Beach Police Department and Homeless Solutions.
Huntington Beach Police Volunteer Program
The Volunteers in Police Service is an HBPD program that provides an avenue for dedicated citizens to dedicate valuable services in collaboration with the Huntington Beach Police Department. By utilizing life skills and experiences, volunteers provide assistance through community outreach and education, plus administrative work and special projects when and where required. We encourage community members to pre-register and join the HBPD Citizens Academy in preparation for Police Volunteerism.
What we do
VIPS is an unpaid volunteer program with the Huntington Beach Police Department. Although projects and duties are assigned based on an as needed basis, the following are examples of some of the duties volunteers may be responsible for:
1. Perform administrative Operations
2. Participate in community events, engagement and crime prevention
3. Participate on the Huntington Beach Neighborhood Watch Board
4. Volunteer as a Retired Senior in various uniformed volunteer opportunities to support our HBPD and enhance public safety
Homeless & Behavioral Health Volunteer Program
Addressing homelessness in Huntington Beach is one of the City’s top priorities.
HB Cares is the volunteer program under the Homeless Solutions & Behavioral Health Services Division. Volunteers give their time and hearts to listen, engage and connect with those in need to supportive services available through the City of Huntington Beach. Ongoing community support is vital to the success of the program. If you are interested in being involved or can provide a much-needed resource to help the homeless, apply to one or more of the opportunities listed in our program.
